Why Should you Choose Handmade?
Many people question why they should purchase handmade items rather than mass-produced items. Why should they buy from the small business if they can get 'essentially' the same item from Target or Walmart? What are the differences?
Supporting Small Business
First, and most important, when you purchase handmade over mass-produced items, you are supporting a small business. You can rest assured that you will receive the highest level of personalized customer service. The owner of the business you purchase from will likely handle your purchases from beginning to end, be the one answering any of your questions and will remember you when you come back for more. To a small business owner you are not 'just another customer', you are literally helping them to support their families.
Quality
Handmade products are just that - handmade! All of our items are mixed and poured by hand. All of our products are made with the highest quality ingredients, that have been sourced in the US. We have tested our products over and over again. You will not be purchasing any items that we would not use in our own homes. Small business owners have put their sweat, tears and time into every item that they have produced. Many big box names use much lower quality ingredients and do not test their products as often as small businesses.
Price
Many times you will notice that handmade products cost more than from box stores. We will bring up quality again. Larger corporations are able to keep costs down by using lower quality ingredients. Many large corporations also import their products from overseas, such as China, and are able to keep their production rates as low as possible. Whereas small businesses create their products right here in the US, with ingredients sourced within the US. Lastly, most small businesses cannot purchase to the huge amount amount of bulk supplies that large big name companies can purchase - playing a role into their production costs.
So is it worth it to choose handmade?
Small businesses will never be able to compete with the prices that these large corporations can offer. However, these large corporations will never be able to compete with the quality and level of customer service that small businesses can offer. To me, that's worth the slightly larger price tag.
